I Like Big Goals and I Cannot Lie…

Some people collect mugs. Some people hoard candles. Me? I do both! I also collect goals. Big ones. Ridiculous ones. The kind that make other people blink twice, feel uncomfortable and ask, “Wait, you’re doing what now?”
Yep. That’s me. A certified, unapologetic, slightly chaotic dream-chaser. Because I like big goals and I cannot lie.
I’m not talking about the neat little tick-box goals like “drink more water” or “walk 10,000 steps.” No shade, but my goals usually come with moodboards, late-night Pinterest sessions, and at least three failed notebooks trying to hold the vision.
Whether it’s launching a new creative project, finally sorting the hallway (currently creating a flower wall), mastering something wild (like sourdough, or running a business with three kids hanging off me), I’m wired for the start. The dopamine rush. I just love the excitement of “let’s do this” before the self-doubt can even begin to lace its boots.
Do I finish everything? No. Do I get distracted and add five new goals before finishing the last one? Absolutely. But do I keep going anyway? You bet I do!
Big goals give us something. They spark things. They create motivation and movement when life feels stagnant and suck. They remind us that we are allowed to grow, pivot, “pivot I said pivot! (Ross’s voice from Friends.) We are allowed to change our minds, and start again from scratch, even if we’re in joggers with yesterday’s mascara still hanging on for dear life and a messy bun.
Big goals don’t always mean big pressure. Sometimes they’re just loud declarations of hope:
- “I’m going to write that book.”
- “I’m going to build that brand.”
- “I’m going to finally organise the bloody spice shelf.”
And sometimes, they’re quiet goals:
- “I’m going to trust myself again.”
- “I won’t shrink myself in order to make other people comfortable.”
- “I’m going to remember that small steps still count.”
So yes, I like big goals. I love big goals. I like messy progress. I also like dreaming out loud, failing sometimes, and showing up anyway.
Because playing small was never the plan for me. Somewhere in Hollywood, there’s a film studio waiting for one of my scripts! (That I may or may not have written yet!)
